"3 videos, 44 days, 11 countries, 18 flights, 38 thousand miles, an exploding volcano, 2 cameras, and almost a terabyte of footage... [All] to turn 3 ambitious linear concepts based on movement, learning, and food... [Into three] beautiful compelling short films... A trip of a lifetime. Move, eat, learn."This has been probably the most effective way of the utilization of media and world wide web in showing people how to live. If you haven't come across this yet, even if it went viral on Facebook and Twitter, click through to educate yourself.
As a freelance filmmaker, photographer, and illustrator, Rick Mereki is in control of everything. The interview, if anything, was just as inspiring as the videos Rick shared world-wide. In this interview, a (very, very, VERY lucky) blogger named Joel Buckland from Hostelling Blog, was able to reveal these quick facts about Rick Mereki and his team:

- He hails from Melbourne, Australia;
- His team is made up of long time friends: Tim White (cameraman and editor), Andrew "Andy" Lees 9tim's actor friend from Sydney), and Kelsey James (music arrangements);
- The guy we see in most of the shots is Andy;
- The production of this project can already be summed up by the caption quoted above.
The first time I watched the triad of videos, a few things came to mind. One, was that this guy must be loaded--loaded good. To be able to travel in eleven countries with eighteen flights must have--obviously and practically speaking--cost a lot. He could just damn well afford the best luxury there is in the world: seeing it, and walking through it in the greatest of ease.
But if you ask me, there's not better way of spending money like the way he did. How so? Watch the three videos again. Give at least a half hour or so to take it all in.
Rick appreciated what Mother Earth has to offer, while it's still here. We can't deny the fact that our world is suffering, I can attest to that here in the Philippines alone. So before that happens, Rick and the whole team just--moved.
There's something about those videos, "Move" in particular, that makes meteary-eyed cry. It might be the music, it might be the split second appearance of the scenery, it might be the look of utter bliss on Andy's face--it might be all these put together in under one minute each.
I want that life. I want that life. I. Want. That. Life.
Doesn't it just jolt you to your senses and ask "Why the hell am I here, when I should be out there?" It happens to me. Every time I watch.
I strongly feel that I shouldn't be writing about these phenomenal videos, the whole team behind this, the marvel of this whole project... I should be out there writing and/or documenting about my very own travels.
I'll have my time soon enough. It might not be Europe-bound as soon as possible, but I've got a whole lot of ground to cover in the Philippines alone.
Here's a piece of advice on travelling from Rick himself:

"Leave all your insecurities at the door … The most amazing thing about travelling to a new country is that it allows you to shed the skin of who you are ... You can be free to be the kind of person you have always wanted to be… Then open your heart up to everyone and everything….. The world will open up in front you."Here's to eating, moving, and learning. Cheers.
